| Ground
disturbance appeared just below the base of the wall cloud. The wall cloud rotation was
strong as I sat approximately one mile from it in my car at the side of hi-way 34 1.5
miles east of Masters. The ground disturbance was on
north side of a line of trees along the river bank. Riverside Reservoir sits
just to the West of the ground rotation.
Doppler radar detected rotation so a tornado
warning was sounded on NOAA weather radio alerting area residents to take cover
immediately.
Of course not being of sound mind
or having any common sense I sat in front of this very dangerous storm.

Detailed
Weather Data

The ground disturbance was definitely rotating rapidly and formed
a clear tube in the center.
Faster and faster it twisted as the tube grew larger and begin to
attach to the base of the wall cloud.
A funnel shape begin to form at the base of the cloud and you
could see it was going to form into a classic tornado.
The base begins to tighten up making the wall cloud shrink in
around it.
Next it begins to form a cone shape from the center of the
rotation.
Multiple vortices come out the side of the main tornado.
You can see at this point we have a second touchdown.
Talking to locals who were on the other side of this tornado they
said that this second tornado was spinning fast and furious.
It is at this point one family told me they headed for the
basement. They had been watching the tornado form from their home, and then realized it
was not safe to stay above ground anymore.
Their neighbors, shaken by this experience, decided they had
better build a tornado shelter since they did not have a basement. Sounds like a great
idea to me..
